Buckman & Farris, PSC, was established in January, 1983 by founding partners J. D. Buckman, Jr. and Eric G. Farris. Mr. Buckman passed away in 1995. Lorie B. Rakes became a partner in 2002 and the firm was then renamed Buckman, Farris & Rakes, PSC.

BUCKMAN, FARRIS & RAKES, PSC's practice emphasis is criminal and civil litigation with particular emphasis placed upon Education Law, representing the Bullitt County Board of Education and formerly advising the Meade County Board of Education and the Jefferson County Head Start Policy Council. The firm established and operates the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) “Legaline”, an “800” telephone line providing legal advice and documents to the 16,000 KRTA members.

In addition, firm practice areas include Real Estate Law (representative clients include The Peoples Bank of Bullitt County and Stock Yards Bank and Trust Company) and Personal Injury and Insurance Defense (representative clients include Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Company).
